The TikTok factory tour: six million views and one very quiet luxury brand.

A generation of creators built audiences by revealing where famous brands are made. The reveals start with a public shipping record, and the brands would rather they did not.

A creator named William Lasry has 494,000 followers on TikTok and 337,000 on YouTube. One clip, shot at the Canton Fair, did six million views. His format is simple: name a brand people love, show the factory that makes it. Another creator, Sam Despo, does the same for an audience of more than 700,000.

Six million views

Fashion magazine nss credits the two of them with introducing a wide audience to ImportYeti, the free database that lists which factories ship to which brands. The reveals in that coverage included Stüssy, Supreme, Skims and Lululemon. Esquire Australia, writing about the trend, got a luxury executive on the record: "We would ideally prefer not to be featured at all. The same goes for our manufacturing partners."

How a video finds a factory

The path is short. Search the brand's importing company. Open its supplier list. Take the factory name to a search engine, then to a booking site. The creator does the travel; the record did the research. No one at the brand is asked, and no one at the factory is either.

Investigators use the same door. Bellingcat, the open-source investigation group, lists ImportYeti in its public toolkit and describes using it to look into sourcing from unethical suppliers and sanctions violations. A tool built for Amazon sellers now serves creators, journalists and investigators alike, and the record cannot tell them apart.

The reveal you cannot un-post

For a luxury house the damage is to mystique. For a mid-size importer it is more direct. A factory named in a six-million-view video gets emails from everyone who watched it, and some of those emails are orders. The brand that spent years developing that relationship is now one customer among many.

What we take from thisBeing the "where it is made" story is not a marketing decision you get to make. It is made for you, the moment your record is public.

We put a federal confidentiality protection in place for every entity and name you ship under, and we keep watching the platforms after that. The factory tour needs a name to start from. Yours stops being there.
